The heart-wrenching scenes of the Manchester atrocity where children and young adults were murdered and maimed cause an explosion of violence in one’s consciousness.  We cannot remain the same, particularly if one was at the scene at the time of the carnage, yet we put on the brave face.  Nothing will change our way of life!

When I was a youngster, soldiers were seen everywhere in their khaki uniforms; on our streets and public transport.  That was normal.  They were not geared up for battle, just going about their daily lives, to work, or on the way home, or shopping.  That was part of our way of life.  It changed during the IRA uprising, when soldiers in uniform were easy targets.  A change to our way of life was made.

The Prime Minister has put the country on high alert, as the authorities fear that another attack is imminent.  It means armed police will be readily available, and armed soldiers could be seen in action, at least, on the streets of London.  Our way of life has changed drastically, but not in the right direction.

The Band Played On

Some of the most tragic announcements that follow terrorist attacks, is, “We will not let it change our way of life.”  Theresa May announced yesterday, “Our values, our country, our way of life will always prevail.”

The band played on as the Titanic sank in1912; a tragedy that according to many should not have happened.  Their faith was misplaced, believing the ship was unsinkable.  All the musicians in the band died, all were hailed as heroes because their last moments on this earth were used to create an atmosphere, of calm, even as the ship sank.

Our PC “way of life” is what has created the womb for this culture of death to take seed and be birthed.  Our “way of life” is far from God.  Our values are Godless!  This nation, developed and created over centuries of Judaeo/Christian values, did have a firm foundation.  That foundation, chipped away by secular humanism, has become a multi-cultural, multi-religious hotchpotch.

Theresa May – What are our values?  What is this country?  What is our way of life?

This country, certainly since the Tony Blair era, has been described as a “multi-cultural” nation.  And in this multicultural nation are some that hold to a culture of death.  This culture is what they believe and it is who they are; and they discover this cultural way of life in their religion – Islam.  Thankfully, it appears that not every Muslim holds to this particular teaching of the Koran, and they are as horrified as the rest of the nation at the kind of murderous atrocity that was carried out against children and young parents in Manchester yesterday.

What are our values?  21st Century Politically Correct thinking is the acceptable face of man.  Anything that is not PC is weird and dangerous.

This nation’s Thou Shalt Nots.  Or, The Unforgiveable Sin(s) in the 21st Century

…is to say Islam is the enemy of life and humankind

…is to say homosexuality is a sin

…is to say Jesus Christ is the only way to the Father

…is to say that Evolution is a theory, not a scientific fact

…is to say that the world was created by God

In this PC nation:

…Absolute truth is evil

…facts are irrelevant

…to be pro-life and anti-abortion is to be evil

…to speak of Jesus in the workplace is a crime

…to preach the Gospel on our streets will lead to being arrested and taken to court

We can see parallels between our nation and that of Israel in the time of Ezekiel.  To gain an understanding of those parallels read the Book of Ezekiel, particlarly Chs 22-24.  ‘I will also turn My face from them, and they will profane My secret place; then robbers will enter and profane it.  Make the chain, for the land is full of bloody crimes and the city is full of violence.  ‘Therefore, I will bring the worst of the nations, and they will possess their houses. I will also make the pride of the strong ones cease, and their holy places will be profaned.…’ (Ezekiel 7:22-24).

In the Lessons from Joshua articles, I mentioned that Joshua and Israel had choices to make.  Britain has choices to make.  One of those choices which is being made appears to be, to refuse to face the truth.  Our police and soldiers, and security can go after a Muslim individual, or a cell, but the authorities can and are refusing to touch the core issue, which is the Koran.  They make those choices because “darkness will cover the earth and deep darkness the peoples” (Isaiah 60:2); and in that darkness, some in our families, communities, places of work, refuse to acknowledge God.  Islam’s foundation is one born out of a sphere of darkness and violence.  It was born out of violence, not in a stable or an inn.  It is a religion where one must convert or die.  Often one is not even given that choice; people are simply murdered.  Yesterday’s child victims were an offering to Molokh, a Canaanite god; a fire-god and a god of sex.  That is the true name of the god that many in our world serve.  Islam is a religion of sex and violence.

“This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come” (2 Timothy 3:1).  The word perilous should be translated (some translations have “terrible”, or, “difficult) “fierce”.  Fierce times are coming, reminding us of the days of Noah: “Now the earth was corrupt in God's sight and was full of violence” (Genesis 6:11).  Their “way of life” had become “corrupt” (Genesis 6:12).  “Pollution” is a good ‘in word’, but the real pollution causing destruction is the pollution of sin against God, and the use of the earth’s resources to make idols that pollute the land – things that don’t enter into environmentalist doctrine.  We read that “Noah found favour in the eyes of the Lord” (Genesis 6:8), and in today’s encroaching darkness, Isaiah 60:2 “…the Lord rises upon you and His glory appears over you.”  Believers face fierce times, but as Noah was not alone, we are not alone.

While it is permissible to speak of evil, “sin” is not an in word, but sin and Godlessness is at the root of our nation’s direction of destruction.  We have built on sand, particularly since the end of World War II.

“Righteousness exalts a nation, but sin is a disgrace to any people.  The king's favour is toward a servant who acts wisely, but his anger is toward him who acts shamefully.…” (Proverbs 14:33-35).

Even at this late stage, there is hope for our nation if we will turn to the Lord, calling on Him for mercy.  “Seek the Lord while he may be found; call on him while he is near.  Let the wicked forsake their ways and the unrighteous their thoughts.  Let them turn to the Lord, and he will have mercy on them, and to our God, for he will freely pardon” (Isaiah 55:6-7).  “Our way of life” must line up with His Word.  Our thoughts must come from renewed minds (Romans 12:2).  “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways," declares the Lord” (Isaiah 55:8).  “Yet even now,” declares the Lord, “Return to Me with all your heart, and with fasting, weeping and mourning; and rend your heart and not your garments.” Now return to the Lord your God, for He is gracious and compassionate, slow to anger, abounding in lovingkindness and relenting of evil.… (Joel 2:12-13)
