In his article for the Mail on Sunday (5th May 2016), speaking about the police Peter Hitchens said, “Yet this – the gathering of louts in the streets, the noise, the open consumption of drugs or drunkenness, the vandalism and menace, the powerlessness of the gentle against the selfish – is the front line of the war for peace and order in our country.  And the police have abandoned it.”  Further into the article he says of the police, “They are a state crime-reporting agency which does quite a bit of social work (some of it rather noble) and which fiercely enforces equality and diversity codes, especially on Christian preachers.”  The police are not alone, they are reflecting the standards of society, the government, law courts and institutions.  Feelings have replaced facts.  Evidence is binned as irrelevant and a waste of time.  What you feel is what counts.  Law and order in no longer about justice.

A case in a family law court involved a young boy from a broken marriage, and which parent should have custody of him.  The mother had broken up the marriage and was living with another man.  That man was (at least) four-times-married.  He had left wives and children behind.  Statements made to the court by the mother were full of lies and contradictions.  A statement to the court by her ‘partner’ was full of lies and unsubstantiated and false allegations.  The CAFCASS officer (Cafcass is a court advisory service) made statements and recommendations after she had interviewed the mother, and the father of the boy.  Her report was extremely biased against the father.  One point she made was that the mother had told her, that the boy’s bed at his father’s home had a lot of cuddly toys on it (how would she know?)  When the officer checked the boy’s bedroom, there were only a few cuddly toys on the bed.  Her conclusion was, the father “could have moved them before she got there.”  The mind boggles.  The officer recommended to the court that the mother should be the main carer of the boy.  The Court complied, and the boy was sentenced to live with a man that he does not like and will not speak to; a man that has abandoned his own children.  This because the court felt “it was time the boy lived with his mother”.  The mother had the money to pay for a lawyer and barrister; the father didn’t.  He had to represent himself; an unpleasant experience by all accounts.  There is a saying from the Talmud that, “whoever saves one life, it is as if he [or she] has saved the whole world.”  What happens when you destroy a life?  In our present-day society justice is fast eroding and lives are being destroyed.  Justice is becoming a thing of the past.  It is an old-fashioned concept that has no place in British life.

Rebellion

It is important that we discern the times we are in otherwise we could find ourselves working and praying against God’s purposes.  We need also to discern the spirits at work in the world, and why are they so openly and obviously active at this time?  It is important we ask the Lord.  We sign on-line petitions about this and that, and attend demonstrations but we do not discern and take authority over the spirit at work, whether demonic activity operating in the earthly realm, or the more powerful fallen angels in heavenly realms (Ephesians 6:12).  A spirit of death, for instance, operating in an abortion clinic, will not be moved by petitions or our many demonstrations.  Society’s ills are due to the outworking of rebellion/witchcraft.  Abortion, euthanasia, disregard for the downtrodden, dishonesty, injustice, political confusion, family breakdown, lawlessness, the list could go on and on, are down to rebellion against God and against His Word.  Rebellion entered the human race when Adam and Eve disobeyed the Lord, and is effective throughout the whole world.  Rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft (1 Samuel 15:23).  Stubbornness, also against God and His Word, is as iniquity and idolatry.  King Saul, as an example, was continuously trying to divine the future rather than putting His trust in God.  The comparison of the words, ‘rebellion’ and ‘witchcraft’ in 1 Samuel are not accidental.  Defiance is as great as the sin of idolatry/worshipping idols (teraphim).  In all the turmoil we do not cry out to God for a demonstration of His power on earth.  We circumnavigate God for various reasons, all emanating from something other than the Holy Spirit.  We fight demonic powers with earthly weapons.  Weapons that are no heavenly good.

We invite demonic activity into our lives in all sorts of ways and activities.  Someone commits fornication and a child is conceived as a result.  Not only do the fornicators open themselves up to demonic activity in their own lives, but the child too can be affected.  You can see a reason why society can change so rapidly in its behaviours and attitudes, and why ungodly laws are introduced by government and authorities.  Even the Church, if I may say so, has opened itself up to the doctrines of demons.  Confusion enters many areas of belief and behaviour, from Replacement Theology, Creationism, adultery, remarriage, homosexuality, transgenderism, to the coming again of our Lord.  We are quick to point to the Jews and to Judaism, saying that they hide Jesus in their interpretation of Scripture.  Do some Christians do the same?  They preach a different Jesus to that of the Bible.  They hide the kosher Jesus in their beliefs and in their behaviours.  We can let the demonic in through our thoughts, words, and deeds.  Satan “prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour” (1 Peter 5:8).  Demons look for a house/host that they can occupy (Matthew 12:43ff).  In our pride we can mistakenly believe that demons cannot possibly affect us because we are Christians.

The spirit of Jezebel?

This is a very popular ‘spirit’ today, and there is many a sermon and book about it.  It can all sound and appear very dramatic and threatening.  What we are really dealing with is witchcraft/rebellion.  Deceivingly, it can appear to be very low-key to begin with.  In the local church, for instance, it can come about when leaders or members of the congregation manipulate and seek to control others.  An example of this involves two women.  They were miserable members of a church, always moaning and complaining.  When they had got as far as they could with that, they turned to weeping and crying and self-pity.  Members thought they would do the Christian thing, and elected them to serve as elders (!).  You might be tempted to say that that seemed to be God’s answer, because now the women were always very pleasant, happy, friendly, and smiling.  They thrived when they were given opportunities to preach in the church and lead meetings.  There was a problem that appeared to go unnoticed.  The women were seeking their own glory, not God’s.  They used witchcraft (people don’t recognise manipulation as that) to get to where they wanted.  They wanted glory for themselves.  They wanted to be loved and admired, but not for their holiness of character.  When over time, interest in their meetings diminished and numbers attending dwindled, well, its because people don’t want good teaching anymore.  There is always some excuse.  Then the church begins to lose members.  There are no new converts.  People become ill and are not healed or delivered.  Members die or go into nursing homes.  Children in Christian families go astray.  Left unchecked the spiritual, moral, and bodily effect on a church is disastrous.  If you deal with the “ordinary” when you recognise it developing, you will save a congregation from what could turn into a plane-crash, and remove hindrances to the working of the Holy Spirit.  You won’t gain in popularity with man, but you will grow in the knowledge and power of the Holy Spirit.  Who is the more responsible for the situation that developed in the example given, the congregation, or the two women?  On a larger, popular scale, we see it in the so-called Telly-(give-us-your-money)-Evangelists, and in the Faith ministries, making wild claims of healings, casting out demons that are not there, making false declarations and false prophecies in the name of Jesus.  It is all manipulation and control, by both men and women.  It is witchcraft.

Meditation and ‘Mindfulness’ are very popular in today’s world of confusion, stress, and chaos.  A former kundalini yoga instructor gave his testimony after coming to Jesus.  His guru had taught him that yoga was white witchcraft, as opposed to black witchcraft and red witchcraft.  By practicing yoga, he had unwittingly opened himself up to the demonic.  After he became a believer in Jesus, he described how the enemy attacked him.  A demon came through the wall.  He said it looked like a grey ball that rushed across the room and slammed into his forehead.  The sensation was one of it trying to suck his soul out of his body.  He concluded that this was the demon he had yielded to when he did meditation. He learned how to “cut-off ties to the evil one, and to walk in God-given authority.”

Witchcraft in the form of treatments has entered the world of the NHS.  Your GP can recommend you to pain clinics offering acupuncture, Tai Chi, and a whole variety of New Age manipulations and treatments that have developed from spurious spiritual backgrounds.  Some people, including Christians that have received the alternative treatments, claim “it works”.  I wonder, at what price?  There are also Christians practitioners of alternative treatments and medicines, a bit of a contradiction in terms.  These are all areas again where you can be open to demonic influence infiltrating your life.  It’s a bit like Saul going to the sorcerers for answers.  There is a price to pay.

In the World

In the world, what some refer to as the spirit of Jezebel began in Genesis.  The outworking of sin would be that man would rule over the woman, and to the woman, God said “Your desire will be for your husband” (Genesis 3:16).  Because the woman influenced her husband and caused him to do what she desired, the woman and her descendants would now take a subservient role to that of the man.  The man is physically stronger than a woman and will use that strength to control the woman.  The woman would use manipulation and her wiles to gain control and to get the man to do her will; perhaps even seducing as she had been seduced by the serpent.  This is putting it simple.  Is the outworking of all this, and what we are seeing today, Satan’s attempt, through women, to crush the head of man? (Genesis 3:15).  In modern times we could go back to the days of the Women’s Rights Movement.  That developed into women’s rights over their own bodies….at the expense of the unborn.  Women, having the right to do what they want with their own bodies, gained the right to take life, when Adam had named the woman, ‘Eve’, because she would become the mother of all living (Genesis 3:20, according to English translations).  Naming the woman in this way at this point does seem odd, but it also offers hope for the future.  But there might be another reason.  Some scholars consider the name, Ḥawwā [Eve] to be related to the Aramaic word ḥiwyā and the Arabic ḥayyatun (serpent).  This view suggests, “She was given to him for an adviser, but she played the eavesdropper like the serpent [ḥiwyā], as in, the serpent was [Eve’s] serpent [i.e. seducer], and Eve is Adam’s serpent”.  So, on account of what happened in the garden, the suggestion is that Adam named his wife Ḥawwā [Female Serpent].  “Living” is also applicable to the name because of the living who were to issue forth from her.  I wonder if we might take this further and say that this reflects two types of woman.  One that lives in the life and power of the Holy Spirit, who not only has life but gives off life to others by the Spirit; and one that echoes the serpent and seducer.  This is not a personal attack against women, Satan can use men quite as easily (John 13:27; Luke 22:3; Matt 16:23).  God chose to bring forth His Son into the world through a woman (Galatians 4:4).  Jesus had many women disciples.  There were prophetesses, deacons in the church, and there was at least one female apostle mentioned in the book of Romans.  I have a high view of women, but it is not the view held by today’s worldly society.

Then we have Human Rights as we develop man’s system of control, to take us away from God’s commandments and laws, and ultimately to keep us from entering the Kingdom of Heaven.  We are covering a lot of ground, most of it you will have to think through yourselves.  The implications of all these “rights” (rebellions) is God’s wrath poured out, and the destruction of the world, as described in the book of Revelation.

The wilfulness of man above the Will of God

Because Adam listened to the voice of the woman, and by doing so disobeyed the voice and Commands of God, and ate what God had forbidden him to eat, consequences followed.  Disobedience was connected with eating, so God cursed the ground, and man would have to sweat and toil if he is to eat of the fruit of the earth.  Of its own accord, without man’s labour, the earth would bring forth thistles and thorns.  “In the sweat of your face you shall eat bread”.  This takes me forward to the Garden of Gethsemane where our Lord sweat great drops of blood (Luke 12:44); and to the crown of thorns placed mockingly on our Lord’s head by the hand of man (Matthew 27:29; John 19:2), a crown He wore to the Cross.  If this is what we will do to our God and Creator, what will we do to one another when all restraint is taken away?

Onward and Downward

In the political arena for instance, British MPs are provided with Mindfulness sessions for those that want to de-stress.  After reading the yoga teacher’s testimony on meditation you can imagine what powers those MP’s are in danger of opening up their lives to, and the consequences for government legislation and laws in the future.  When we speak of “the powers that be” we could be speaking about the demonised powers that be.

Our young children are in serious danger too.  There is a campaign to introduce Mindfulness into state infant schools – Classdodjo[i], “Helping teachers, parents, and students change education from the ground up.”  “Bring every family into your classroom.”[ii]  Some teachers are already teaching this diabolical practice to the children in their care[iii].  This could be a way that people will grow up with Godless, and demonic personalities such as described by Paul in Romans 1:9, and speaking of the Last Days in 2 Timothy 3:1-5.

Liberals pretty much hold to one mantra: the right is evil, corporate, racist, intolerant, and homophobic, and the left is “humane,” “tolerant,” and “nice.” They don’t use the word “good” because that vocabulary is fraught with the implication of a moral code that does not pay homage to the new religion of ‘feeling’; otherwise you could call a developing doctrine of theirs, “Fight the good white with all of your might!”, especially if the “white” is male.  What we are discussing is doctrines and attitudes produced from the demonic in the world.  People, because their lives are in rebellion against God, are open to demonic deception, especially through the changes in society that have taken place already.

A doctrine of demons in the world is that of man-made global warming/climate change.  Scientists that oppose this world-wide deception lose their funding for research, they lose their jobs and reputations.  Any alternative thinking is crushed.  This is witchcraft, a foundation stone of deception and the rebellion against God, the Creator of the Universe.  Anti-Semitism is another world-wide doctrine of demons grounded upon the bedrock of witchcraft.  The mind of mankind is gradually being crushed by being taught and programmed not to think.

The new Theology of Nice

“Nice” is fitting in, doing what you want, not really hurting anyone (as long as you don’t count the disabled and infirm, who need to be euthanized, and the unwanted unborn, who need to be aborted), and most important of all the progressive sacraments we’ve just touched on, never judging anyone else unless he’s a white male etc. etc.

Proverbs 17:11 “Sheer rebellion an evil man seeks, but a cruel agent will be against him.”  The NIV has, “Evildoers foster rebellion against God; the messenger of death will be sent against them.”  Proverbs is warning, if you are imprudent enough to wilfully rebel against the government, it will send its ruthless agents to eliminate you.  How much more should we be warned about wilfully rebelling against the Government of God?  Death entered through sin (Romans 5:12), and death is all around, particularly violent death.  And, how prepared are we to face a world government under the Anti-Christ?

How biblical is our belief in Scripture?  The Bible has been preached and taught for hundreds of years in the West.  This is not a deep study on demonology and its effects.  Rather it is a simple reminder that, we might remember to engage our brains, but are we spiritually aware and tuned in to what is going on around us?  If you are, do you know what you should do? (1 Chronicles 12:32).  An anecdote related by John S. Mbiti[iv] speaks of an African that travelled to the West for his education.  He was a bright young man, and gained a Doctorate in Theology.  On his return to Africa, a crowd met to greet him and welcome him home.  One of them fell to the ground shrieking.  The chief addressed the young man saying, “You have been studying theology overseas for ten years.  Now help your sister.  She is troubled by the spirit of her great aunt.”  Looking up the index in Bultmann (Rudolf Bultmann 1884-1976), the young man finds and reads the piece on spirit possession in the New Testament; but the answer he gets is: Bultmann has demythologized it.

When Christians are challenged with a message to repent, and they respond by asking what is it that they should repent of, a good place to begin would be to repent of witchcraft.  Remember, if you sweep the church clean, ask the Lord to fill it/the congregation with the Holy Spirit (Matthew 12:44-45).

“Blessed are those who wash their robes, so that they may have the right to the tree of life, and may enter by the gates into the city.  Outside are the dogs and the sorcerers and the immoral persons and the murderers and the idolaters, and everyone who loves and practices lying” (Revelation 22:14-15).

Blessings and shalom,
