Please read this in the context and continuation of Part 1.

Reading Exodus 4:24-26 it appears that the Israelites could be delivered from Egypt without having full circumcision, whereas God was going to kill Moses because the sign of the Abrahamic covenant was not on him and his son Gershom.  It was Zipporah’s redemptive action and the blood of the son that saved Moses from certain death.  It appears that Moses, being the leader of the Exodus was held to a higher standard.  James said that teachers would be judged more severely (James 3:1).  It was later, in Joshua 5:2-3, that the Israelites had their foreskins fully removed.  Had they not, then they too would have faced the wrath of God.  It is imperative we get our lives and teaching right before the Lord.  Very soon, in a world that gives more thought to plastic than it does to God, the only justice Christians will receive will be the same justice that Jesus received at the hands of His accusers.  The Gospel and belief in Jesus Christ, has been increasingly abandoned throughout much of the Western world.  When Paul was hauled by the Jews before the judge’s bench of Gallio in Acts 18:3, note the charge made against him: “he persuades people to worship God contrary to the law.”   In Acts 17, the charge is that the disciples are declaring the reign of another king – Jesus.  These sorts of charges are what we find implied in the challenges concerning Christians in Western nations.  Our beliefs and teachings are contrary to law, and to the developing belief systems in which citizens are becoming entrapped.  That Christians preach another source of sovereignty and government is increasingly unacceptable.  A steady stream of criminal and administrative law continues to be included in the statute books, which are already being used to condemn Christians and their faith, particularly by those in authority.

Concerning Canada

It seems that many of these steps, steadily eroding Christian freedom, may now be coming to a head at the federal level with an ideologically motivated effort to actually criminalise services and practices that the government believes are rooted in ‘myths’ about the human person.

Proposed legislation originally called “Bill C-8”, An Act to amend the Criminal Code, had proposed to brandish criminal law against so-called ‘conversion therapy’ and is now expected to reappear this Fall unchanged but under a different number.  Bill C-8 states clearly in its preamble: “conversion therapy … is based on and propagates myths and stereotypes about sexual orientation and gender identity, including the myth that a person’s sexual orientation and gender identity can and ought to be changed.”

Clearly here, Biblical truth (cf. 1 Cor. 6: 9-11) and the historic teaching of the church concerning human sexuality are condemned as myth and Christ’s call to repentance from sexual sin is overtly rejected.  Justice Minister David Lametti explained his rationale for the ban, saying: “Conversion therapy is premised on a lie, that being homosexual, lesbian, bisexual or trans is wrong and in need of fixing.  Not only is that false, it sends a demeaning and a degrading message that undermines the dignity of individuals.”  So, on the authority of Mr. Lametti, God’s Word, the authority of Christ, the teaching of the universal Church and centuries of normative understandings of the human person are dismissed as lies to be overthrown, with resisters cast into prison. – (Wilberforce Academy Director and Head of Public Theology, Rev. Dr Joe Boot)[i]   There is a further report by Christian Concern which is available online.  They ask the question, “Why does Welby continue to endorse false teacher Michael Curry? [ii]

Hilary Clinton is upping her war against the saints.  She is not only cashing in on BLM, but is also exhorting the Church to get in line with the world.  Her gospel claims that young people are leaving the Church because Christianity is judgemental and alienating.[iii]  Hilary’s gospel is one of alienation, as it alienates one from God and His Word, as well as from one another.  She wants the Church to live the kind of lifestyle and belief system that she holds to; one that leads the world away from the Creator God.  Her true motive it appears, is to eventually outlaw Biblical faith and those that are faithful followers of Jesus.  Maybe the young Christians in the USA will be challenged to stand up and be counted, standing for Jesus and for truth, to show the ‘adult’ world what is important – Jesus and His teaching.

The black-side of Antisemitism

Columnist and author Melanie Philipps comments on the worlds shenanigans saying, “Much has been written about left-wing antisemitism and the pernicious role played by the universities in fomenting it.

Rather less has been written about the antisemitism perpetrated by radical black groups, such as Nation of Islam or Black Lives Matter, which finds routine and largely unremarked expression among rappers, for example, and has infiltrated parts of the black community.

There has been little discussion of the linkage between anti-white and anti-Jewish feeling.  And there’s been virtually no acknowledgement of the way in which this whole toxic train of thought has been unwittingly institutionalised by governments and other official bodies.

Western governments, companies and institutions are in large measure currently enforcing training in “unconscious bias” and “diversity.”

The ostensible aim is to promote tolerance and inclusion.  In fact, such training teaches people to hate. It tells them that both their country and western society in general are hateful because they are structurally prejudiced against black people; and if these trainees are white, it tells them they are racist and teaches them to hate themselves.

Not only is all of this a terrible smear on the overwhelming majority who are decent people.  It is racial prejudice against white people.  It damns an entire ethnicity on the basis of the colour of people’s skin.

Worse still, “unconscious bias” means not only that everyone is a racial bigot even if they don’t consciously think in those terms; but also that, if they say they aren’t prejudiced, this merely proves that they are.  This is Soviet-style totalitarian doublethink.

This pernicious development owes its origins to critical race theory, which grew up in the universities in the 1970s and 1980s alongside other radical doctrines such as women’s studies and “queer” studies. These are all aspects of identity politics and victim culture, whose aim is the overthrow of core western values.”[iv]

Fear

As we have seen, there is a fear of speaking the truth in love (Ephesians 4:15) – God’s Word is truth (John 17:17; Psalm 119:160).  Also, Covid has exposed not only society, but Christians too as being a fear-filled people.  There is also fear of vaccines, even fear of having the flu jab.  Some years ago, two dear friends of ours were anti vaccinations.  They were elderly and qualified for the meningitis vaccination, but they refused it.  The husband contracted meningitis and died.  We need to be ‘informed’, not ‘in fear’.   Psalm 139:14 says we are fearfully and wonderfully made.  We make it look as though we have been fear-filled made, and those that point the finger at others, are usually just as fearful.  Their decisions prove this to be so.  Sadly, the fear is not the fear of the Lord.  It is the opposite.  Perhaps Covid has been allowed to expose our fear so that we can deal with it.  We have to face this out with the Lord if we are to stand in the day of trouble coming upon the world.  “Do not fear those who kill the body but are unable to kill the soul; but rather fear Him who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell” (Matthew 10:28).

Psalm 11:3

“If the foundations are destroyed, What can the righteous do?”  We throw our hands in the air in disbelief at what is happening around the world today, as statues are pulled down, buildings defaced, and cities are under siege as people rebel against authority.  But we are at peace in the Church when we destroy God’s word by changing it, defacing it, disbelieving it, refusing to accept it, or bury it in a graveyard of good works.  It is ok to destroy the foundations of faith, but not to destroy worldly edifices.  The world is erupting and is spewing out its evil intent; society is becoming lawless (toward God and His Commands).  Christians must beware of doing the same; it is time for us to remove the masks and to stand firm for Jesus, the only firm foundation there is.  “He will be the sure foundation for your times, a storehouse of salvation, wisdom, and knowledge. The fear of the LORD is Zion’s treasure” (Isaiah 33:6).  When we change God’s Word, we weaken the impact it can have on our lives and in the lives of others, and we develop a false sense of eternal security.

In the hustle and bustle of the Covid chaos, it is possible that we have not heard what God is saying, and not seen what He is doing.  “Jesus gave them this answer: “Very truly I tell you, the Son can do nothing by himself; he can do only what he sees his Father doing, because whatever the Father does the Son also does” (John 5:19).  As Christ’s Body on earth the Church should be doing the same, but are we?

Separation anxiety

Separation from

As we have seen as we progressed through this article, there are things we should separate from, and others that we should separate to.  You might think of many more things than I have mentioned.  Since it is our iniquities that separate us from God, and our sins have hidden His face from us so that He does not hear (Isaiah 59:2); then we have got to separate ourselves from iniquity, and we must separate ourselves from sin.  “Iniquity” is defined as being wicked or immoral in nature or character.  Primarily, it indicates “not an action, but the character of an action”, and is so distinguished from “sin”.  God withdraws His presence because of the people’s offences.  “Their feet run to evil and hurry to shed innocent blood.  Their devisings, devisings of vice, wrack and ruin upon their paths.  The way of peace they do not know, and there is no justice where they go…” (Isaiah 59:7).  God is speaking to His own people.  “Vipers eggs they hatch and a spider web they weave” (Isaiah 59:5).  Look at our nation – a nation that has had the word of God for centuries.  Consider the Church in our nation.  We are to separate ourselves from foreign gods and from the doctrines of devils – “But the Spirit explicitly says that in later times some will fall away from the faith, paying attention to deceitful spirits and doctrines of demons by means of the hypocrisy of liars seared in their own conscience as with a branding iron” (1 Timothy 4:1-2).  The lack of divine intervention in the Church in our nation, is solely the consequence of God’s people’s own actions.  If God’s people will get rid of their idols and foreign gods, and turn from their sins, God will hear from heaven and heal the land (2 Chronicles 7:14).  I am thinking in the context of the Church.  He will deliver those souls that have been entrapped by the enemy and false teaching.  We have been separated from our places of worship as a sign of the separation there is between us and our God.  Christian’s are hiding in their homes out of fear.  God does not give a spirit of fear; but we have surrendered the power, love, and the sound mind (2 Timothy 1:7) that He does give.  We have been seduced into separating ourselves from God’s word and have swallowed the doctrines of demons in its place.  We have become as the compromising Laodiceans, and are useless to God.  In fact, we make Him sick! (Revelation 3:14-22).  The vaccine is the Blood of Jesus – Repent and believe; return to the Lord! (Joel 2:12-14).

“Therefore come out from among them and be separate, says the Lord. Touch no unclean thing, and I will receive you” (2 Corinthians 6:17; Isaiah 52:11).

A separating that is future is expressed in Matthew 25:32, “All the nations will be gathered before Him; and He will separate them from one another, as the shepherd separates the sheep from the goats.”

“For it was fitting for us to have such a high priest, holy, innocent, undefiled, separated from sinners and exalted above the heavens” (Hebrews 7:26).

Separation to

We are to be separated unto God, and to bible study and obedience to His word and His Spirit.  Written more that twenty-five centuries ago, Psalm 119:97 says, “O how I love Your teaching!  It is my study all day long.”  We are to walk in the Spirit – “Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh” (Galatians 5:16).  We are set apart for fellowship with the Father and with one another through the blood of Jesus Christ.  We are set apart for good works – “We are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them” (Ephesians 2:10), the obedience of faith, faith made active by works.

“For how then can it be known that I have found favour in Your sight, I and Your people? Is it not by Your going with us, so that we, I and Your people, may be distinguished from all the other people who are upon the face of the earth?” (Exodus 33:16).

“As I see him from the top of the rocks, and I look at him from the hills; behold, a people who dwells apart, and will not be reckoned among the nations” (Numbers 23:9).

“But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for God’s own possession, so that you may proclaim the excellencies of Him who has called you out of darkness into His marvellous light” (1 Peter 2:9).  God instructed Moses to tell the Children of Israel that “You shall be unto Me a kingdom of priests and a holy nation” (Exodus 19:6).  The medieval commentator Nachmanides understands the biblical exhortation to be holy as, “you shall be separate.”  At the same time, we are set apart for good works.  In our separation we are called to deep involvement in the world.  There is purpose in being separated from the world, in that we are useful to the world.  This holiness is expressed in Moses’s first speech in Deuteronomy 4:5-8, “See, I have taught you decrees and laws as the Lord my God commanded me, so that you may follow them in the land you are entering to take possession of it.  Observe them carefully, for this will show your wisdom and understanding to the nations, who will hear about all these decrees and say, “Surely this great nation is a wise and understanding people.”  What other nation is so great as to have their gods near them the way the Lord our God is near us whenever we pray to him?  And what other nation is so great as to have such righteous decrees and laws as this body of laws I am setting before you today?”  Israel was holy precisely when other nations look at them and say, “Surely that great nation is a wise and discerning people.”  If Israel, or the Church, fails to take affairs beyond their own borders into consideration, we cannot be a “wise and understanding people.”  “As long as it is day, we must do the works of him who sent me. Night is coming, when no one can work” (John 9:4).  “Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to everyone, and especially to the family of faith” (Galatians 6:10).

“Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do it with thy might; for there is no work, nor device, nor knowledge, nor wisdom, in the grave, whither thou goest” (Ecclesiastes 9:10).
