The heart-wrenching scenes of the Manchester atrocity where children and young adults were murdered and maimed cause an explosion of violence in one’s consciousness. We cannot remain the same, particularly if one was at the scene at the time of the carnage, yet we put on the brave face. Nothing will change our way of life!
Last weekend offered a wake-up call to political leaders around the world, while showing the rest of us that those we think are in control may not be entirely so. Interestingly, when there is already so much uncertainty in the world, it appears the enemy of God wants to engage in warfare on a cyber scale not experienced before. The recent cyber-attack has already struck many countries, and continues to spread the globe. It is causing chaos to Britain’s NHS computer systems, with disruption to patient care and treatment. It is perhaps a serious distraction aimed at de
It was a surprise to many in British and world politics when Britain voted to leave the EU. The outcome set the global political realm into shock because it was the wrong result. It wasn’t supposed to happen that way. Britain had been promised a Referendum a number of times over the years, but it was last year before it became a reality. Enough people had passed through the education system having been born a citizen of Britain but also of the EU, that the result was thought to be a certainty. Even now, when we are coming out of Europe, there are people that co
Had it not been for the intervention and determination of God, Israel would have remained in Egypt, as slaves, forever. Had God not intervened, I would suggest that Britain would have remained in the EU. There are differences; with Israel, “The people of Egypt pressed the people [of Israel] to leave quickly…” (Exodus 12:33). That reversal in their mind-set toward Israel came about after God sent plagues and particularly death to the firstborn of Egypt. Then the Israelites “…were thrust out of Egypt…” (v39). The EU’s desire is that Britain remains in the EU.
I intended writing about A Divided Nation since this described Israel during the time of Kings, and it describes Britain today to some degree. However, according to Prime Minister Theresa May, it is not so much a nation divided, as it is a House Divided against itself as she battles her way in Parliament. It was my intention to begin by looking at the time of Solomon and the nation dividing after his death, and God willing, we will journey together over the coming weeks to A Nation Divided.
And early in the morning He came walking toward them on the sea. But when the disciples saw Him walking on the sea, they were terrified, saying, “It is a ghost!” And they cried out in fear. (Matthew 14:25-26)

Whilst lawlessness and Godlessness is not a new phenomenon, we are surely living in times when these factors are pervading every element of society and on a global scale. There have always been wicked individuals and evil ideologies which have appealed to some elements of society in certain places but we are seeing changes to the concept of what it means to be human beings made in the image of God, as never before. These changes are accelerating rapidly to the extent that we are told that there is the new ‘normal’.
How do we reach the young, in our churches and fellowships? What will attract them to our books and writing? What is missing? These are question it is right to ask, if we are going to look for the answers. More often than not, we are content to go on as we are.
The voice of the Lord is over the waters; the God of glory thunders, the Lord thunders over the mighty waters. The voice of the Lord is powerful; the voice of the Lord is majestic. The voice of the Lord breaks the cedars; the Lord breaks in pieces the cedars of Lebanon. He makes Lebanon leap like a calf, Sirion like a young wild ox. The voice of the Lord strikes with flashes of lightning. The voice of the Lord shakes the desert; the Lord shakes the Desert of Kadesh. The voice of the Lord twists the oaks and strips the forests bare. And in his temple
