2024/25 - Final Crowdfunder: Steve Maltz’ Book Shed

This has been my biggest Crowd funder yet and the final one.

Those of you who follow me will know of the ongoing issue I had with book storage, with well over 10,000 unsold books languishing in a storage facility at the cost of £5000 a year. This had become totally unsustainable, so Monica and I decided to have a purpose-built shed built at the end of our garden to store the books. Because of various factors this was a costly enterprise and the total cost was just under £12,000 (including VAT), but I had £2000 left over from my previous crowd funder.

Then, the builders informed us that an extra amount would need to be paid to add a layer of insulation on the inside to protect the books from deterioration. So this was added to the total. This work has now all been completed.

I was trying to raise £11,240. Wonderfully, that amount was raised and the shed completed. However,, we still need a few hundred more pounds for Phase 2, which will allow us to install electricity. Any further help you can give will be most welcome.

It has a great embarrassment for me to have regularly asked for money. the good news is that my recent book, Now Everything Changes, was the first to actually sell in reasonable numbers, which meant that income from it was used to finance the next book, Who Am I?

You cannot imagine the relief Monica and I have now this shed is built, it will be a major benefit for our stress levels.
