Ep. 59: Authority

LUKE 10:17-24

How proud are you when your child does something for the first time. Perhaps their first step, or first word, or first attempt at cooking beans on toast. Now imagine Jesus, greeting the disciples back from their mission trip. They are so excited! They are even able to expel demons in the name of Jesus. Yes, you can, he replies, because I have given you the authority to perform such things.

Now fast forward 2,000 years. Things are no different. We, too, have the authority to perform such things in his name. Such things that many have failed to do because they did not have a relationship with Jesus. It is such a precious thing and something that all Christians possess, if only they knew it! We have the authority. How often have we exercised it?
