Ep. 45: Traditions of the Elders
Let’s recap. Jesus and his disciples left Capernaum for Bethsaida on a Thursday and the miraculous feeding of the multitude took place that evening, followed by the passage of the disciples to the other side of the lake and him walking on the waters, in the night of Thursday to Friday.
Ep. 44: Walking on water
An irresistible impulse seized the people. They would proclaim him King, then and there.
Ep. 43: The Feeding of the 5000
Jesus and his disciples needed to get away from Capernaum and rest
Ep. 42: The death of John
In these circumstances, we empathise with John’s disciples, as months of this weary captivity pass.
Ep. 40: New Wine
The scene has changed and the Baptist has become the prisoner of Herod Antipas.
Ep. 39: I must become less
Meanwhile, having sent his disciples off on their mission trip, Jesus himself taught and preached for a short time in the towns around Capernaum.
Ep. 38: Sent out
From now on he will begin to send out his disciples to spread the Gospel, to share his task and mission.
Ep. 37: Prophet without honour
So Jesus left Capernaum and from this time onwards it ceases to be the centre of his activity and is only occasionally visited.
Ep. 36: Miracles of faith
There seems remarkable similarity between the two miracles of Jesus on leaving Capernaum and those which he did on his return.
