LUKE 8:1-3
It was when I was writing a screenplay based on the events of the Gospels that I realised how few women there were in the story; of fifty-five characters, barely five of them were female, most of them called ‘Mary’. Yet they pulled way above their weight, particularly Mary Magdalene, the first person to see Jesus after his death!
In life we tend to focus our attention on those who demand it, the loud, extraverted individuals who manage to dominate, even when they don’t set out to do so. They are the ones who send food back in restaurants, spend an awful long time on complaint hot-lines and ask awkward questions in public meetings. For all this bluster, it is usually the quiet ones who get the work done, happy to not attract attention but to just get on with it. If this is you then see it as a blessing. It has its advantages. We are all provided with different roles, according to our abilities and inclinations. The key to contentment is just that … be contented if you can. If you are not contented then pray to God for change, He only wants the very best for you.
