Jesus operated on two levels. He not only taught the good news to all who would listen, but he also demonstrated his Kingdom, through his healings and miracles. It was all part of the package, it all went together, words and action.

Some of us are people of the Word. We are Bible scholars or enthusiasts and have a verse at hand for all circumstances. This is very worthy but, if this is the only thing that defines us, then – and it has to be said – an A.I. could do the same, an algorithm based on Bible applications can also have a verse for all circumstances. Some of us are people of action. We are caring and helpful, we can be used to bring healing, of mind, body or soul. But others can do this, too. If it is not done in the name of Jesus, with glory not given to God, then He can’t use it and we may as well be doctors, counsellors or just people of compassion.

The point is that we do it all together. We don’t just speak His Words, but we demonstrate them. Do don’t just demonstrate His Kingdom, but we explain our motivations, as people of the Kingdom. It is not easy to do this, but it is something worth striving for.
