MATTHEW 19:16-22, MARK 10:17-22, LUKE 18:18-23

Let’s face it, most of us in the West are ‘rich men’ with many of our needs fulfilled and, perhaps, unwilling to give up on some of our luxuries. This is what Jesus was confronted with, with the rich young man, to whom he said, “If you want to be perfect, go, sell your possessions and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me.” This was too much for him, as he had great wealth.

We need to realise that all we have is from the Lord, not just material riches but all of our advantages in life. When push comes to shove, which of these would we be willing to give up in order to fulfil a particular calling we may have? This is just between you and God and he may be calling you now to make a very difficult decision?
