Ep. 84: Servanthood

MATTHEW 20:20-28, MARK 10:35-45

It’s bad enough to be jostling for a special position and favour with “the rabbi” but getting mummy to speak up for you seems a bit desperate! You can’t earn favour that way and, as Jesus said, it was up to God to decide who gets the ‘prime position’.

Our task, of course, is not to indulge in such nonsense, yet we see it all the time, even in our “Christian world”, with our reverence for our ‘celebrities’, whether they are pastors, vicars or worship leaders. Rather than hoping that special favour or charisma would rub up on us if we cosy up to the ‘special holy ones’, let’s concentrate on being a true follower of Jesus, to serve others as servants not ‘fans’.
