None of us are immune to a touch from Jesus. Matthew himself was the hated taxman, lapdog of the occupational Roman army. But Jesus accepted him. He was just the man that Jesus had come for, someone considered beyond the pale by everyone else. He came for sinners, not the holy!

He also came for you and me. For many years I had personal reasons to believe that I was an exception to this call, that Jesus had come for others, but that I, like Matthew, was ‘beyond the pale’. I was wrong. There are no exceptions. His call is for you, whoever you are and where you have come from.
