LUKE 2:21-38

Can you imagine being told that you wouldn’t die until you have met a certain person? Simeon, a man of holy pedigree, figured that he’d hedge his bets by lurking in the Jerusalem Temple itself, the most likely place to witness the coming of the Messiah, even if the ‘promised one’ was still a baby-in-arms. And then, to cradle this Saviour-to-be in your own arms! What a privilege, what a joy!

Now imagine yourself cradling a baby, any baby, in your own arms. Every baby has a huge potential, as their life-years unwrap. You, too, have been given a privilege. We must pray for these young ones as they lay in their innocence. Pray that they will come to know the same Messiah that Simeon patiently waited for.
