Ep. 75: Thank goodness!

Thank goodness I’m not like that street beggar! We may say this out of sympathy for the poor man, but there can also be an element of thank goodness I am me, a godly man … I would never allow myself to sink so far! Jesus spoke of a Pharisee who though like this and a Tax Collector who didn’t.

In terms of our position in society, this not down to accident of birth, but rather to the grace of God, who has allowed you to gain whatever position you are in. Rather than look down at those more unfortunate, we need to have some mercy for them and thankfulness to God for blessing us. Otherwise, as the parable says … prepare to be humbled!
